As from February 19, the citizens of Moldova can travel to Turkey with identity cards as well, including valid biometric ones. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, the first passengers already used this opportunity today, traveling by an Istanbul-Chisinau flight of Turkish Airlines.
The Ministry said the holders of given documents are exempted from the obligation to obtain an entry, exist, transit and temporary stay (up to 90 days within 180 calendar days) visas for Turkey.
The Moldovan citizens who will travel to third countries through Turkey should inform themselves about the travel regime applying to Moldovan citizens who go to a country as a final destination and should have the documents needed for border control with them.
The measure was taken as part of the protocol to amend the intergovernmental agreement on the mutual abolition of visas with Turkey that was signed on October 17, 2018 and took effect on February 19, 2019.
