Freestyle wrestlers Vasile Diaconu, Maxim Bostan, Gennady Diuvenji and Radu Lefter medalled at the European Cadet Freestyle, Greco-Romanian and Women’s Wrestling Championships that are held in Sarajevo of Bosnia and Herzegovina, IPN reports.
Vasile Diaconu won silver in the 69 kg class. He easily qualified for the final after 10-0 victories against Jako Kivimaegi of Estonia, Mert Murad Ramadan of Bulgaria and Szymon Wojtkowski of Poland. In the final, he lost to Russia’s David Cheldiev.
Maxim Bostan won bronze in the 42 kg class. In the quarterfinals, he lost to Azerbaijani wrestler Tofig Aliyev, who reached the final. In the finals, Bostan won against Germany’s Julien Zinser 8-2.
In the 46 kg class, Gennady Diuvenji also medaled bronze. He beat Ioannis Martidis of Greece and Ruhan Hyusnyu Rasim of Bulgaria and then lost in the semifinals to Russia’s Magomed Abdurakhmanov and defeated Thomas Epp of Sweden 10-0 in the match for the bronze medal.
Radu Lefter won bronze in the 100 kg class. In the 1/8 finals, he beat Georgia’s Tchabuki Gamkrelidze, but in the quarterfinals list to the future finalist, Anil Berkan Kilicsallayan of Turkey. In the re-qualifying rounds, Lefter defeated Dimitar Atanasov Hristov of Bulgaria and won 10-0 against Yauheni Pinchuk of Belarus in the match for the bronze medal.
