The athletes of Moldovan medaled at the European U23 Wrestling Championships held in Tirana, the capital of Albania, IPN reports.

The Sports Center for Training National Teams said that a bronze medal was won by freestyle wrestler Ion Marcu. In the small final, the athlete from Abaclia village of Basarabeasca district defeated Germany’s Manuel Wagin 11 to 4.

Eugeniu Mihălcean also won bronze. He best Bulgaria’s Radomir Stoyanov in the small final of the 86kg weight class.

Two other freestyle wrestlers, Ion Bulgaru (57kg) and Pavel Graur (70kg), ranked fifth.

Moldova secured one more medal at the European Wrestling Championships in Tirana. Athlete Mihaela Samoil (55kg) qualified for the final, where she will face Tuba Demir of Turkey.
