Moldovan wines tasted in Tokyo
More than 30 wines, including frothy wines, made by 10 Moldovan producers were presented in Tokyo on January 17 on the occasion of a fact-finding visit paid by Deputy Speaker Liliana Palihovici and Minister of Health Andrei Usatyi to this city, at the invitation of the Japan International Cooperation Agency, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the Parliament’s press service, the Japanese people who attended the event expressed interest mainly in the wines made from grapes of local origin and encouraged the Moldovan producers to bring such wines to the Japanese market. Most of the wines presented for tasting were approved by specialists as being of a high quality.
The tasting involved famous businesspersons, representatives of the Japanese arts, culture, science and traditional cuisine. Liliana Palihovici invited actor Tatsumi Takuro, who is the producer of a popular TV program about wines, and the adviser of the commissioner of the Japanese Tourism Agency to Chisinau. In one of the next weekends, Tatsumi Takuro will present several Moldovan wines tasted in Tokyo in his program.
Liliana Palihovici said she was impressed by the Japanese’s knowledge about wines and their refinement in selecting and appreciating them.
Moldova’s wine exports have increased by 25.7% since 2009. During 2010-2012, there were staged over 50 exhibitions abroad with a view to promoting the Moldovan wines on foreign markets.
