Moldovan wines deserve to get to Europe - Marianne Mikko
The Russian embargo on Moldovan wines has double effects – certainly it creates economic problems to Moldova, but on the other hand, this offers new opportunities for redirecting the market, the head of the Bureau of the European Parliament Delegation within EU-RM Parliamentary Cooperation Committee (PCC) UE–RM, Marianne Mikko, stated while paying a visit to Moldova.
She said that now is the proper moment for Moldovan goods to become more qualitative and to be directed towards the European market. „Moldovan wines deserve to get to Europe,” she noted, mentioning that one of the goals of the visit was to examine the situation regarding this issue and to facilitate the access of Moldovan goods and, especially, of wines, on EU market.
As regards the Transnistrian issue, Mikko noted that it is useless to organize a referendum in Transnistria if there is no juridical background. Before the delegation will leave for Tiraspol to meet with the leaders of the separatist regime, Mikko highlighted that she wishes to understand the message they would have for the European Parliament. She also showed her satisfaction related to the activity of EU Border Assistance Mission for Moldova and Ukraine. Its activity put Moldova into a favorable situation for resolving the Transnistrian issue, she underlined.
The European Parliament Delegation paid a visit to Moldova on June 27-30.
