The Moldovan wine may start to be exported to the EU outside the set quotas in the middle of this month, as the last relevant procedure will be completed on December 10, the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) Vlad Filat said in the program “Replica” on Prime TV channel, IPN reports.
Vlad Filat said the Moldovans will feel the benefits of the initiating of the Association Agreement with the EU in the near future, when the visa regime is abolished. “The quality and speed at which we moved towards obtaining the initiating of the Association Agreement and the liberalized visa regime are a premiere for the EU. We do not intend to set records as regards the speed, but we want benefits for the Moldovans as soon as possible,” he stated.
The Liberal-Democratic leader also said that Moldova will be an EU member state when it meets all the necessary conditions and has a functional economy, laws in compliance with the EU legislation and modern infrastructure intended to improve the quality of people’s lives.
The leader of the Democratic Party (PDM) Marian Lupu said that by initiating the Association Agreement with the EU, for the first time in the 22 years of impendence, Moldova clearly set its internal and foreign policy priorities. “I assure you that the accord will be signed next year and it is within our responsibility to make sure that the agreement is ratified by the next parliamentary elections and starts to be implemented,” he stated.
Marian Lupu also said that these are not the only benefits that Moldova will obtain by signing the Association Agreement and the Free Trade Agreement that transforms Moldova into a commercial partner of the EU and of the European investors. “The Association Agreement is an opportunity. The EU offers us new possibilities. It is like a rod by which we can fish benefits. It should be clear that the initiating, signing and ratification of the Association Agreement does not guarantee the irreversibility of the European course. It is everyone’s responsibility to ensure the continuity of this course,” he added.
The leader of the Liberal reformers Ion Hadarca said that Moldova will not abandon the chosen road. The Association Agreement initialed at the Vilnius EaP Summit will be made public by Prime Minister Iurie Leanca in Parliament. The Moldova citizens should realize that the liberalized visa regime will enable only the Moldovans who hold biometric passports to travel visa-free to the EU for 90 days within six months. The other privileges will come in time, depending on Moldova’ accomplishments.
