The Moldovan weightlifters returned from the World Championship held in Poland without medals. The last participant Alexandru Dudoglo didn’t compete as he sustained an injury before the competition, IPN reports.
Alexandru Dudoglo was rated as a possible winner in the 85 kg class, but he suffered a leg injury and was unable to fight for a medal.
The other two Moldovan weightlifters - Andrei Captari (77 kg) and Ghenadie Dudoglo (62 kg) – were unsuccessful in the snatch and in clean and jerk exercises and failed to qualify for the finals.
The best Moldovan weightlifter at present Anatol Caracu didn’t go to Poland as he was operated on the elbow.
Former member of Moldova’s national weightlifting squad Cristina Iovu represented Azerbaijan in the competition and became world vice champion.
