Moldovan weightlifters win five medals at European Junior and U-23 Championships
The Moldovan weightlifting team have had quite a remarkable success at the European Junior and Under-23 Weightlifting Championships in Cyprus, wining five medals on the second day of the competition, Info-Prim Neo reports.
At the U-23 section, Alexandru Spac won three silver medals in the 69kg category. He came in second at snatch and clean & jerk, lifting a total 313 kilograms, to be only beaten by Russia's Oleg Chen. Last spring Alexandru Spac won a bronze medal at the senior European Championship.
In the same 69kg category, but at the Junior section, Sergiu Cechir came twice in the third place at snatch and clean & jerk, with a final result of 296 kilograms.
Other Moldovan weightlifters, Anatol Ciricu and Adrian Zbirnea (94kg), and Natalia Priscepa (69kg) will enter the competition the next days.
The Championships will end Sunday, November 28.
