The State University of Moldova ranks 3 287th in the world according to the Ranking Web of Universities (Webometrics), this being the best position among the higher education establishments of Moldova. The State University is followed by the Technical University of Moldova on the 3 458th spot.

The Nicolae Testemitanu University of Medicine and Pharmacy occupies the 7 171th spot, the Chisinau State Teacher Training University Ion Creanga – the 7,502th spot, while the Academy of Economic Studies – the 8 329th spot.

The indicators based on which the rankings were compiled included the transparency of institutions, visibility of their websites and openness to the public.

The rankings are produced by a group of Spanish researchers and cover over 27,000 higher education establishments of the world, including 26 universities of Moldova. Last summer, the State University of Moldova ranked 3 1480th and was followed by the Technical University of Moldova and the Moldova Free International University.
