Elena Secas, a Moldovan emigre, has become the first non-Irish candidate to stand for election to Limerick County Council, in Ireland's West, the local newspaper Limerick Leader is quoted by Info-Prim Neo. She is 34 years and emigrated from Moldova 7 years ago. She lives in Castletroy, the Limerick country, and was nominated by the Labor Party from Ireland to stand for a position of county councilor. The Labor Party – social-democratic -- is the third most important political party in that country and holds the majority in the local Council of the capital Dublin. "I worked in Moldova as a journalist and interpreter and while I wasn't involved in politics in that I wasn't a member of a political party, politics was part of my career as you have to know about it. I chose Labor because I respect the values of this party," Ms. Secas said for Limerick Leader . Asked over the phone by Info-Prim Neo if her example could be an argument that Moldovans make their way easier in foreign countries than at home, Elena Secas has said: “I would not say that the Moldovans make their way easier abroad. I think it's more about perseverance and trusting oneself.” A working mum, Ms Secas said she wanted to see better playgrounds facilities in the area for young children, but is also hoping to hear from the voters what they want done in their areas. Elena Secas is married and has a 6-year-old daughter, Nicole.
