The draw for the first qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League was held in Nyon. In the 2018-2019 season, Moldova will be represented by Milsami Orhei, Petrocub Hancesti and Zaria Balti, IPN reports.
Milsami will play the vice champion of Slovakia, Slovan Bratislava. In 1969, Slovan won the European Cup Winners’ Cup after beating Barcelona in the final. Petrocub will meet Osijek, which ranked fourth in the championship of Croatia the last season. In the previous Europa League season, the team trained by Zoran Zekic reached the playoffs, managing to eliminated PSV Eindhoven.
Zaria will duel with Gornik Zabrze, which ranked fourth in Poland the last season. In 1970, Gornik lost to Manchester City in the European Cup Winners’ Cup final.
The matches of the first qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League will be played on July 12 and July 19, 2018.
