Moldovan students take part in pilot testing within international PISA program

More than 1,400 students from 38 Moldovan schools on April 16 are taking part in pilot testing within the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

The PISA is a comparative international study that aims to measure the main abilities of 15-year-old students obtained at the end of the secondary school in three areas: sciences, mathematics, and reading.

In the 2009 testing, the Moldovan students achieved poor results. In reading, Moldova ranked 65th out of 74 participating countries, in math – 59th, while in sciences – 57th.

The PISA is implemented in the participating countries every three years. The basic testing within the program will be held in 2015.
