Moldovan students know exact sciences under basic level, shows U.S. study
The eighth graders in Moldova occupy the 24th position among 45 states by the level of knowledge of mathematics and other exact sciences (physics, chemistry, biology), a study carried out by the American Research Institute reveals.
According to the study, the Singaporean students are the best at mathematics (605 points). They are followed by the students from South Korea (589) and from Hong Kong (586). The Moldovan students scored 460 points. This is slightly less than the points accumulated by the Bulgarian, Romanian and Norwegian students, but a little more than the scores of the students from Cyprus, Macedonia and Lebanon.
A similar situation is characteristic of the other exact sciences for which the students from Eastern Asia garnered most of the points (by 550-580). The students from Moldova got 472 points, which compares to the score of the students from Jordan, Bulgaria and Israel (475-488). The Romanian, Serbian and Armenian students obtained fewer points.
The study shows that the Moldovan students know the given subjects under the basic level.
