Moldovan students chant “We want home!” in customs office

Some 50 Moldovan students studying in Romania's Iasi were prevented to enter Moldova for about an hour at the Sculeni customs office at about 1 p.m. On Tuesday. As a sign of protest, the students blocked the customs office, chanting: “We want home!” and did not allow other cars to pass through, Info-Prim Neo reports. A bus with Basarabian students has been halted in the Sculeni customs for about two hours. The students want to reach Chisinau to join the protesters here. Victor, a student in Iasi, has told Info-Prim Neo over the phone that the border guards argue the soft used to check passports is out of order. “It's a stupid reason. We see how other cars a passing through. We'll stay here until we enter our country. Who can forbid us to return home, to join them?” Victor said. According to him, the students were humiliated by the military. “The locals tell us the military were not seen till now in the customs office. They seem to have been called on purpose,” Victor said. Another Moldovan student in Bucharest has told Info-Prim Neo that a series of Basarabian students from Husi, Timisoara and Ploiesti seek transport to go to Iasi and then to enter Moldova.
