Moldovan student drowns in U.S.
The body of a young man found washed up on a Maine beach has been identified as that of a 21-year-old Moldovan exchange student who was working in the state for the summer, the Associated Press reports.
According to the local newspaper “Bangor Daily News”, quoted by Info-Prim Neo, the body was found Friday, and identified later on Sunday, August 5.
According to the same source, police were being tight-lipped about where the young man had been before he drowned, whether he was on board a vessel, visiting one of the islands or staying onshore. They also would not reveal how long the body had been in the water before washing ashore, and how officials knew that it was a drowning.
The police also said that no further information will be provided until the student’s next of kin have been notified of his death.
