A National Army contingent consisting of 46 soldiers is taking part in the multinational exercise “Rapid Trident 2014” that is taking place at the International Peacekeeping Center “Yavorov” in Ukraine on September 15-26, IPN reports.
Acting commander of the Land Forces Command, Colonel Iurie Bruma said the goal of the exercise is to train soldiers for peacekeeping operations.
According to a communiqué of the Ministry of Defense, the Moldovan contingent is formed of soldiers of the Peacekeeping Battalion No. 22, the Special Destination Battalion “Fulger”, the Academy of the Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun”, and of the Brigade No. 2 “Stefan cel Mare”.
The National Army has taken part in the multinational peacekeeping exercise “Rapid Trident” since 2007. This year the exercise will bring together about 1,300 soldiers from 15 countries, namely Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Canada, Georgia, Germania, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, the UK, Moldova, Norway, Poland, Spain, the United States, and Ukraine.
