Moldovan service members take part in “Platinum Eagle” exercise

A contingent of service members of the National Army is taking part in the multinational exercise “Platinum Eagle” at the Babadag Training Center in Romania during February 11 – 17. The contingent consists of 60 officers, sub-officers, sergeants and soldiers of the Cahul Motorized Infantry Brigade “Dacia” and Chisinau Peacekeeping Battalion No. 22.

According to the Ministry of Defense, the Moldovan service members will train together with mates from Bulgaria, Georgia, Romania, Ukraine and the United States. The exercise is designed to increase interoperability between the participating forces, to enhance the capability of training in concert and to develop a favorable regional environment for multinational military cooperation. The service members of the National Army take part with 12 units of military equipment.

Recently, Minister of Defense Eugeniu Sturza, in a meeting with his Romanian counterpart Mihai Fifor in Chisinau, thanked for the invitation to take part in “Platinum Eagle”, “Fire Shield” and other exercises. “I’m convinced that the service members of the two armies will tests their interoperability and will show that they are good soldiers and good friends, as they have always been,” stated the minister.
