Moldova has already won three medals at the Minsk European Games. These were all won by sambo players: silver by Sabina Artemciuc and bronzes by Denis Tachii and Paulina Eșanu, IPN reports.

On the road to the final of the 60 kg weight class, Sabina Artemciuc beat Georgia’s Salome Abashidze and Spain’s Jimenes Lopez Yaiza. In the final, the 22-year-old athlete was defeated by Vera Harelikava of Belarus.

In the 52 kg class, Paulina Eșanu won bronze at only 18. She lost to the future finalist Marina Zharskaya of Belarus, but then won against Slovakia’s Sylvia Revilakova and Ukraine’s Maria Buiok.

In the first round of the 100 kg class, Denis Tachii lost dramatically to France’s Antony Segard 6-7, but then beat Ferenc Siranko of Hungary 7-0 and in the match for the bronze medal defeated Andrii Boloban of Ukraine 3-2.
