Moldovan-Russian agreement on migration of labor force ready

The talks between Moldova and Russia over the agreement on the migration of labor force were finalized and the document is ready for signing. The issue was discussed by Prime Minister Vlad Filat in a meeting with his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev. The two officials met in Turkmenistan’s Ashgabat, where there is held the meeting of the Heads of Government of the CIS, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communiqué from the Government, the agreement will ensure the observance of the rights and freedoms of the migrant workers in the two states. The Moldovan Premier reiterated the request to extend the period of stay for Moldovans in Russia. Vlad Filat also said that 2012 is relevant for the bilateral relations between Moldova and Russia because it will mark 20 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations and 10 years of the coming into force of the Interstate Friendship and Cooperation Treaty. Dmitry Medvedev expressed his readiness to cooperate with his Moldovan counterpart and to build efficient cooperation relations in continuation, stressing the importance of maintaining and continuously developing the bilateral relations. The two officials welcomed the latest developments in the Transnistrian conflict settlement process and stressed the necessity of further improving the confidence building measures. Dmitry Medvedev reiterated that Russia’s position is that the conflict should be resolved by observing the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Moldova.
