Moldovan public associations instructed in self-financing

The nongovernmental organizations of Moldova must develop the services they provide and must create as many partnerships as possible at different levels so as to be able to cope with difficulties associated with financing and human resources, the executive director of the public association “Centrul Pro Comunitate” Vitalie Postu said. Within the project “Development of Opportunities for NGOs”, which is implemented by the association, ten representatives of five national NGOs took part in training courses on strategic planning in three stages, IPN reports.

According to Vitalie Postu, the first trainers instructed as part of the project started to provide strategic planning services for their organizations. Owing to these courses, the nongovernmental organizations of the country will be able to develop the range of services provided by them so that they generate incomes and ensure durability after the foreign financing is used up.

“The activity was based on participatory principles. The persons who were selected based on a contest put forward ideas of developing the organization for a period of at least three years. The trainers worked out a plan of action for the organization’s first year of work,” said Vitalie Postu.

He also said that the project’s impact consists in the development of NGOs’ self-financing capacities and in the organizational development trough strategic planning. The self-financing opportunities include the diversification of the provided services, continuous training of the team, international partnerships and local fund-raising activities through different campaigns.

The project “Development of Ppportunities for NGOs” is supported by FHI 360 and USAID.
