The Moldovan producers presented their fruit offer at the Berlin specialized exhibition that is taking place during April 5-7. Twelve fruit growing and exporting companies that are members of Moldova Fruct Association are promoting their products, identifying new buyers and trying to diversify the markets, IPN reports.
“Our objective is to promote the Moldova fruit to new buyers and to present the Republic of Moldova as a supplier of tasty and high-quality fruit. We discussed with current and potential buyers about supplies and cooperation relations the next season. Our participation in this event is extremely necessary especially now that we need to diversify the markets so that the Moldovan fruit reach as many countries as possible. We have a group consisting of 12 companies that exhibit fruit on the stand and another ten producers that are visiting the exhibition,” said Iurie Fală, Moldova Fruct executive director.
On the first day of the exhibition, the stand of Moldova Fruct was visited by buyers from India, the United Arab Emirates, Sweden, the UK and Norway and by a delegation consisting of agriculture ministers of Balkan countries accompanied by the Minister of Agriculture of Moldova Viorel Gherciu and the German Minister of Food and Agriculture Cem Özdemir.
Marian Gorincioi, of Farm Prod SRL, said they discussed with Dutch journalists who know about Moldova and every time visit its stand at Fruit Logistica and also discussed the supply of apples with traders representing companies from the Middle East, Norway. Elena Davidescu, of Ceteronis-ST, noted they had meetings with clients they know and with whom they have cooperated and also discussed with potential buyers from Germany, Poland, the United Arab Emirates, the UK, Croatia, with the traders from the Middle East showing increased interest in the Moldovan plums, grapes, apricots, apples and cherries.
Fruit Logistica in Berlin is the biggest trade show that covers every single sector of the fresh produce business and provides a complete picture of the latest innovations, products and services at every link in the international supply chain. The event attracts over 75,000 visitors. The Moldovan companies’ participation was organized with support from the USAID High Value Agriculture Activity in Moldova Project, the Investment Agency and Western NIS Enterprise Fund.
