Agriculture Minister Valeriu Cosarciuc said a task-force was establish to assist the producers in the process and ensure that all the requirements are respected. He explained some of the requirements: “For example, if the name of the wine contains the geographical indication of Cahul, then you cannot use grapes from northern or central Moldova to make this wine” , said the minster. “It is important for producers to understand that registered names sell better on the EU markets”, Cosarciuc added. The cost of obtaining a certificate of geographical indication is around 245 euros.
