“We can say with certitude that our major goal of becoming a member of the European family becomes more achievable,” Prime Minister Vlad Filat said Friday at the Summit of Foreign Ministers of the Central European Initiative held in Bucharest. He appreciated the opportunities offered by this partnership and the CEI's role of negotiator for the countries with European aspirations, Info-Prim Neo's correspondent in Bucharest reports. At the summit, the Prime Ministers of the 18 CEI member states adopted the report on the CEI's work in 2009 and the plan of action for 2010. “Since the inception of the CEI, half of its members have become EU member states, while the second half aspire to join the European family. Moldova was subjected to a democracy test and, after forming a democratic alliance, adopted the government program called “European Integration, Freedom, Democracy and Welfare”, whereby the European integration is declared as the main internal and foreign policy priority,” Vlad Filat said. According to the Moldovan Premier, the regional cooperation is also a priority. “Moldova is ready to use the opportunities offered by the CEI and the EU. As a fully-fledged member of the CEI, Moldova benefited and continues to benefit from regional cooperation in implementing the European principles, standards and values,” Filat stressed. Acting Prime Minister of Romania Emil Boc congratulated the Moldovan government on the results achieved in the democratization and reformation of Moldova and expressed his confidence that Moldova's efforts on the path to European integration will be successful. In the second half of the day, Vlad Filat will sign three agreements with Romania at the Victoria Palace – the Convention on Small-Scale Border Traffic, the Agreement on the Protection of Investments and the Agreement on Customs Protection.
