Moldovan-Polish statement on Moldova’s European integration commitment signed in Chisinau

The co-chairmen of the Moldova - Poland Parliamentary Assembly, Nae-Simion Plesca and Ryszard Terlecki, on July 23 signed a joint statement that reaffirms Moldova’s European integration commitment as the only and most efficient instrument for ensuring the prosperity, security and stable development, IPN reports.

By the same statement, the MPs appreciate the support provided by Poland as an EU member state by sharing its own experience of integration into the EU and by the Development Assistance Program. The statement stipulates Moldova’s and Poland’s readiness to support regional ad macro-regional initiatives and reaffirms the common interest of Moldova’s Parliament and the Sejm and Senate of Poland in realizing the interparliamentary cooperation potential and in strengthening the relations of cooperation and friendship between the two states.

In a news conference held after the signing ceremony, Nae-Simion Plesca thanked Poland for its support for Moldova’s European integration efforts and the efforts made to implement development policies and reforms in the country. “We are glad that Poland is a leader among the EU countries by the import of Moldovan wines,” stated Nae-Simion Plesca. He noted that a Festival of Grapes will be held in Poland for the first time this year, at the end of September. This is planned to become a platform for promoting the Moldovan producers.

Deputy Marshal of the Sejm Ryszard Terlecki said Moldova’s European integration aspirations will always be supported, at all the levels, in Poland. “We will support the entry into the European Union of Macedonia, Ukraine, Albania, Montenegro, Georgia, and Moldova. The promotion of wines on the Polish market is a first step,” he stated. Ryszard Terlecki noted it is in the common interest to allocate the financial resources intended for housing migrants in  Europe to developing countries, including Moldova, so that the road to the EU is covered faster.

The Moldova- Poland Parliamentary Assembly is an interparliamentary consultative body constituted in 2011 to work out the common viewpoints on projects that are in the bilateral interests, especially in the context of the process of Moldova’s association with the EU.
