The National Army members deployed in the peacekeeping operation KFOR have started to carry out their missions in their area of responsibility. According to the Moldovan contingent commander, Lieutenant Colonel Victor Goja, so far, the Moldovan peacekeepers have participated in practical helicopter evacuation sessions and crowd control training, being trained by Italian colleagues.
According to a Defense Ministry press release, the contingent's group of engineers carried out training in identifying and defusing explosive objects, reconnaissance missions of patrol routes in the area of responsibility and checking helicopter landing pads.
The 15th National Army contingent left for Kosovo in early July. It consists of 41 professional soldiers, including one staff officer, seven engineers and a platoon of 33 soldiers.
The Moldovan peacekeepers are deployed in Pech and are part of Regional Command West.
