The Parliament of Moldova and the European Parliament will sign a memorandum of understanding that will comprise joint actions om a number of areas of cooperation. This was agreed on during a meeting between Moldova’s Speaker Igor Grosu and MEP Dragoș Tudorache, European Parliament rapporteur and coordinator for democratic support for Moldova, who is visiting Chisinau.
Igor Grosu said the document will be an important political signal for Moldova. “The signing of the memorandum will allow us to step up our dialog in a number of key areas”, the Speaker was quoted by Parliament’s press service as saying.
The officials also discussed the priorities of the new Moldovan legislature, in particular fight against corruption and the judiciary reform. “We want functional state institutions that work in the interest of the people regardless of the political setup”, stressed Igor Grosu.
During the meeting, the interlocutors took stock of the projects implemented by the Moldovan Parliament with the EU’s support. Dragoș Tudorache expressed his openness to further support efforts that improve the efficiency of administrative processes within the Moldovan legislature.
