A delegation of Moldova’s Parliament is attending the winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) that is held in Strasbourg on January 25-28, IPN reports, quoting the legislature’s press service.
The delegation consists of Deputy Speakers Vlad Batrâncea and Mihail Popșoi, MPs Gaik Vartanean, secretary of the commission on foreign policy and European integration, Liviu Vovc, secretary of the commission on social protection, health and family, and Monica Babuc, a member of the commission on culture, education, youth and sport.
The delegation will take part in the election of the PACE Secretary General and the Council of Europe Deputy Secretary General and of two ECHR judges. Among the items on the PACE session’s agenda are the debates on the independence of judges in Poland and Moldova and the implementation of the ECHR judgments.
On the sidelines of the session, Moldova’s delegation will have a meeting with the newly appointed co-rapporteur of the PACE Monitoring Commission for Moldova Pierre-Alain Fridez, the representative of Switzerland.
