The 17th meeting of the EU - Moldova Parliamentary Cooperation Committee is taking place in Brussels between June 17 and June 18. The delegation of the Moldovan Parliament is headed by MP Ion Hadarca, who is co-chairman of the Committee, while the delegation of the European Parliament by MEP Monica Macovei, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the legislative body, the meeting centers on the progress made in the negotiations on the Association Agreement with the EU and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement, and in the dialogue on the visa regime and in implementing the Visa Liberalization Plan of Action.
The participants in the meeting also discuss the headway made in the Transnistrian conflict settlement talks in the 5+2 format and aspects of the regional cooperation between Moldova and its neighbors, including within the Eastern Partnership. In the end of the meeting, there will be adopted recommendations for the Moldovan authorities and the European Commission.
The EU - Moldova Parliamentary Cooperation Committee monitors the implementation of the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between Moldova and the EU. It comes together twice a year, once in Brussels and once in Chisinau.
