Moldovan migrants in Israel could apply for pension at new place of residence

The Cabinet decided to initiate negotiations on the pilot program between the Government of Moldova and the Government of Israel on the employment of Moldovan citizens as caregivers of elderly persons with disabilities from Israel, IPN reports.

The pilot program is designed to ensure the observance of the rights of migrant workers and to fight illegal migration. In particular, the migrants will benefit from professional training and medical examinations in Israel. The program envisions the employment of 300 Moldovans at the start.

The Cabinet also decided to open talks on the draft administrative arrangement for implementing the agreement on social security between the Republic of Moldova and Israel. Thus, the migrants from the two states could file an application to have the pension and other social welfare set at the new place of residence.

The given decisions were made following agreements reached during Prime Minister Pavel Filip’s visit to Israel.
