Moldovan-Lithuanian relationship holds a potential unexplored enough, Ambassador Igor Klipii
Moldova's Ambassador to Lithuania Igor Klipii thinks that the relationship between the two countries holds a great potential for cooperation, which is still not explored enough.
To identify possible Lithuanian importers interested in Moldova's agrifood market, the Moldovan Embassy to Lithuania arranged a video conference which brought together business people from both countries. The participants spoke about the quality of the Moldovan products and potential exports.
“I and my colleagues from Lithuania who participated in the organization of the conference are looking to see the effects of this event. The participants in the conference collected the information which interested them, asked clarification questions and, last not least, saw their potential partners in person. Now, together with the co-organizers in Moldova, in particular MIEPO and the Ministry of Agriculture, we are going to exchange information and data with our Lithuanian colleagues in an attempt to set things in motion”, Igor Klipii told Info-Prim Neo.
The diplomat regards the conference as a success, with a positive signal being that after the conference he was contacted by the Lithuanian Landowners' Association. Next week, Igor Klipii will also meet with the Lituanian Manufacturers' Association to discuss similar issues.
Asked what the Moldovan authorities can do to animate exports to Lithuania, in particular of wine and food, the ambassador said that it is needed to create space for communication between the business people from both countries. “We can settle whatever problems faced by the entrepreneurs in carrying out their activity, if such exist, we can provide them with the information they need, we can initiate talks and sign whatever inter-governmental documents to facilitate economic activities. However, the biggest responsibility rests with the business people, because much depends on their willingness and capacity to do business with foreign partners”.
The Moldovan ambassador concluded by saying that there is a great potential in the Moldovan-Lithuanian relationship which is yet to be explored by the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the diplomatic mission in Vilnius.
