Stefan Popa and Eugen Matveichuk scored by a victory at the Junior World Judo Championships that were held in Zagreb, IPN reports.
Cadet world champion last year, Matveichuk in the first round beat Andrew Kaswanga of Zambia, but then lost to Germany’s Tim Gramkow. For his part, Popa, who also competed in the 81 kg weight class, defeated Romania’s Andrei Gusa in the first round, but was eliminated by Jan Reijntjens of the Netherlands.
Ion Nacu scored the best result. He finished seventh in the 73 kg class with three wins and two defeats.
