Moldovan Health Ministry plans to implement two projects to improve perinatal care in Transnistria
The Moldovan Health Ministry intends to implement two projects to improve perinatal care in the communities on the eastern bank of the Nistru, specifically by enhancing security of blood transfusion and by setting up a second-level Perinatal Center in Tiraspol, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The projects will be financed by the Moldovan government and the European Union.
The Ministry has said in a press release other projects and activities on public health and social services are being implemented in the Transnistrian region, including control and prevention of tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS, training of medical personnel engaged in primary care, vaccination programs, and strengthening of the intensive care service, etc.
Other measures include the development of the blood center in Tiraspol, of the blood transfusion units at the town hospital in Bender and the district hospital in Rybnitsa, which are part of the “Transfusion Security in Moldova” Project. At the same time, the population is informed about how to prevent contacting the novel influenza A(H1N1).
