The delegation of the Green Ecologist Party of Moldova participated during November 9-11 in the meeting of the European Greens’ Council, which took place in Athens, Greece. The main topics were the support of Greens in Eastern Europe and ecologic economy, Info-Prim Neo reports. Head of the Green Ecologist Party Anatolie Prohnitchi told the press on November 15 that several projects for promoting ecologic economy were being worked on. “I understood that this field isn’t known too well by our people or authorities”. He said that the European Greens’ Council discussed about future plans to ‘green’ the economy and politics. “Politicians should stop making populist statements, and do things that are beneficial for the people. Banks should be greened as well. They should offer accessible credits and fund businesses that bring long term benefits for the people”, explained Prohtnichi. The party’s deputy leader Sergiu Albu, in charge of implementing green economy in Moldova, said that this kind of economy was talked about a lot at the European Greens’ Council. “We have a few directions that aren’t too popular in Moldova and we must push them: renewable energy and waste recycling”. Green Ecologist Party’s youth leader Alexandru Donea added that at the meeting in Athens it was agreed to organize summer camps in Moldova because of the country’s clean environment. “We also agreed to have internships for Moldovan youth at various European institutions so that they gained experience and were able to get a job back home”. The Green Ecologist Party of Moldova is a full member of the European Green Party since 2008. 120 delegates from 30 countries of the world participated in the meeting of the European Greens’ Council.
