Moldovan Govt. salutes gas conflict solution

The Government of Moldova salutes the fact that Ukraine and Russia have reached a consensus on the terms of delivery and transit of gas to Moldova and the European countries. The resumption of gas supplies through Ukraine was agreed by Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and his Ukrainian counterpart Yulia Tymoshenko at bilateral negotiations held Saturday in Moscow. In a press release quoted by Info-Prim Neo, the Moldovan Government says the country is constantly provided with gas though the Alexeevka pipeline, in northern Moldova, as well as though the Grebenki pipeline. In the last 24 hours input constituted 9 to 9.5 million cubic meters of gas, which are said to be enough for all the settlements on both sides of the Nistru river. The combined heat and power plants are running at normal capacities and have been partially shifted to gas in order to save heating oil in stocks, which, in case of need, would suffice for another 10 days. Starting Monday, January 19, all schools, social and medical establishments in the country will resume their normal activities.
