Prime Minister Iurie Leanca discussed the priorities of the new Government of Moldova with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and President of Romania Traian Basescu as well as other officials on the sidelines of the European People’s Party Summit that took place in Vienna, IPN has learned from the Government’s press service.
Besides the priorities of the new Government, Iurie Leanca also raised such issues as the sociopolitical developments in Moldova and the situation in the Transnistrian region. He approved of the European partners’ readiness to continue to support Moldova on the path to democratization, modernization and integration into the EU, and reiterated the importance of the European countries’ support for promoting the reforms and ensuring the irreversibility of Moldova’s European course.
The Premier referred to the major objectives set by the Government, especially the initialing and signing of the Association Agreement, which includes the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement, and the liberalization of the visa regime, the European officials reiterating their support in this respect.
The agenda of the summit includes such subjects as the process of strengthening the European Union, identification of innovative solutions for obtaining economic growth and creating new workplaces, and combating of unemployment, especially among young people.
