The cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Georgia in the commercial-economic sector and other areas was discussed in the meetings of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Mikheil Janelidze, who is in Chisinau on an official visit, with Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu. In both of the meetings, the officials referred to the joint statement signed by the legislative bodies of Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine, by which the three states requested the European Parliament to offer them a EU membership perspective, IPN reports
In the meeting with the Premier, the officials exchanged opinions on topical subjects related to the bilateral cooperation, pleading for the intensification of contacts, including at intergovernmental and interministerial levels. Pavel Filip underlined the progress made by Georgia in the European integration process and addressed a congratulatory message to the Georgian people on the occasion of the liberalization of the visa regime with the EU.
“I want to highlight the good cooperation relations in the European integration area. The discussions held within the ninth informal Eastern Partnership dialogue show once again that we have a broad cooperation space within the European integration processes in our countries,” stated Prime Minister Pavel Filip.
According to the Government’s press service, the Premier pleaded for intensifying cooperation in the commercial-economic sphere, saying the launch of the Moldovan-Georgian intergovernmental commission for commercial-economic cooperation and the holding of the Business Forum in Tbilisi this April will boost the relations on this segment.
For his part, Mikheil Janelidze pleaded for the realization of the cooperation potential between Moldova and Georgia in the commercial-economic sphere, tourism, culture and education. He congratulated Prime Minister Pavel Filip on the ambitious reforms promoted by the Government of Moldova, reiterating his readiness to ensure the exchange of experience in this regard.
In the meeting with Andrian Candu, the interlocutors appreciated the partnership between Moldova and Georgia, noting that the excellent political relations should have continuity in commercial-economic cooperation projects. According to the Speaker, now both Moldova and Georgia experience changes. The officials underlined that the problems faced by the two countries, such as separatism, bans, propaganda and misinformation, are common. Therefore, it was decided to step up multidimensional cooperation.
