Moldovan functionaries to be trained on European affairs by experts from Bucharest

During September 13-26, Moldovan public officials and members of the foreign service will attend training courses on European affairs organized by the Romanian Diplomatic Institute.

“Romania’s experience in the European Union as a candidate and then member state, in organizing preparations for EU accession, in the role of institutions, accession criteria, European policies, in economic reforms, in transposing and implementing European legislation are some of the topics that will be addressed. The pilot program, created after the Republic of Moldova obtained EU candidate status in June 2022, aims to train public officials and experts from the central public administration of the Republic of Moldova in the field of European affairs”, the Romanian Diplomatic Institute said in a press release.

Thanks to the program, the authorities of the Republic of Moldova will understand, in addition to theoretical and technical aspects, the requirements of each stage of the accession process, the steps to be followed, and how to fulfill objectives.

The program initiated by the Romanian Diplomatic Institute (IDR), in partnership with the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the International Development Cooperation Agency (RoAid), will also feature meetings with specialists who have relevant experience in the process of Romania’s accession to the EU, such as Leonard Orban, former chief negotiator for Romania with the EU, Daniel Dăianu, university professor, Department of International Relations and European Integration within the National School of Political and Administrative Studies SNSPA and former finance minister.
