Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, during March 21-22 is paying a working visit to Brussels to discuss the security situation in the region and to promote the European integration agenda of the Republic of Moldova. The Moldovan official will have meetings with European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi, European Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson and other high-ranking officials, IPN reports.
The program will start with the participation in the meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council chaired by Josep Borrell, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice President of the European Commission. The participants will exchange opinions on Moldova’s European aspirations and on the regional security situation generated by the war in Ukraine.
On March 22, Nicu Popescu will give a speech in the meeting of the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs, centering on the impact of the war in Ukraine, management by Moldova of the humanitarian crisis, regional security situation and Moldova’s European aspirations. While in Brussels, the Moldovan official will also meet with MEPs and with representatives of different parliamentary groups.
