Moldovan foreign minister on working visit to Sweden

Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, is paying a working visit to Stockholm during December 5-6. While in Sweden, the Moldovan official will meet with Minister for Foreign Affairs Tobias Billström, Minister for International Development Cooperation Johan Forssell and State Secretary for EU Affairs at the Office of the Swished Prime Minister. He will also have a meeting with a parliamentary delegation led by Deputy Speakers Julia Kronlind and Kerstin Lundgren, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, in the meetings with the Swedish officials the Deputy Premier will raise such issues as the intensification of the bilateral political-diplomatic dialogue, the priorities in the promotion of the European integration agenda during the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the EU as from January 1, 2023, the security situation following Russia’s unprovoked war against Ukraine and the impact of this war on Moldova at socioeconomic and energy levels.

Nicu Popescu will also take part in panel discussions with leaders of think tanks, journalists and officials held under the theme “Regional energy crisis and European integration of the Republic of Moldova” at the Stockholm Center for Eastern European Studies, and will participate in an event to promote the national wine industry involving the companies Cricova, Castel Mimi, Chateau Vartely, Fautor, Equinox, Gitana Winery, Mileștii Mici, Bostavan, Purcari, and Pelican Negru.
