Moldovan fighters win bronze at European Qwan Ki Do Championships
Moldova's national Qwan Ki Do team won the bronze medal at the European Championships hosted by the Austrian capital Vienna, Info-Prim Neo reports. The medal, obtained in the sparing event, is the greatest international result for the Moldovan fighters practicing this form of martial arts.
The bronze was won courtesy to the performance of the brothers Denis and Dumitru Nicula, and Gheorghe Popan, members of the Fong club.
“This is a remarkable achievement that comes after 12 years of hard training. We could have performed even better had we had enough time for preparations”, said Sergiu Popa, the chairman of the national Qwan Ki Do association.
Qwan Ki Do is a combination of Chinese and Vietnamese martial arts using a great variety of hand and foot techniques. In Moldova Qwan Ki Do first appeared in 1995 in a Criuleni club founded by master Eduard Bulat.
