The persons arrested yesterday by the police in Chisinau for attempting to destabilize the situation before the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU are from Comrat. The information was made public in the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel by former Ministry of the Interior employee, Colonel Valeriu Cerba, who is the pro-rector of the University of European Studies, IPN reports.
Valeriu Cerba said he possesses such information. He criticized the Moldovan law enforcement bodies for not appropriately investigating the cases of separatism. “They do no work systemically. There is no proper and systemic coordination between these institutions. We now face a problem – separatism. It is a dominant factor that causes serious problems to Moldova,” he stated.
Political analyst Oazu Nantoi avoided accusing the arrested persons, invoking the presumption of innocence. He specified yet that the population in Gagauzia experiences psychological stress before the signing of the accord. “After Russian TV channels and leaders from Comrat managed to convince the people that the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU represents a danger for them, the poapualtion there is in a state of collective psychosis,” said Nantoi. He criticized the authorities for inappropriately dealing with the situation. “Recently, the former Transnistrian leader gave interviews for the media in Chisinau, ex-foreign minister of Transnistria Valery Litskai presented projects to federalize the country in news conferences in Chisinau, but the authorities do nothing to punish these state criminals,” said the analyst, specifying that the Security and Information Service (SIS) monitors the situation and is making effort to prevent an escalation.
Journalist Valeriu Renita said he presumes that the two arrested persons represent the organizations “Antifa” or “Moldova mare”. (“Great Moldova”). He criticized the law enforcement bodies for not doing their best. “I think that not everything is under control. The Security and Information Service and the Ministry of the Interior are very weak institutions because many good specialists left them. If several hundred people come together in the central square of Chisinau, they will be unable to do something and there will be staged a coup, a color revolution or a demonstration of separatism,” he stated.
In the same program, former acting director of the SIS Valentin Dediu said that some of the statesmen from Moldova and abroad threaten the security of the state. “Many dignitaries in Moldova and aboard threaten us. Separatism in Transnistria and Gagauzia and the country’s federalization are the greatest dangers. Persons are being trained in special camps in Russia or Serbia to promote separatism,” he stated.
