The Association of United Moldovan Communities (ACUM) will hold on March 7 and 8 the inauguration session of a parliament-like body called the Federal Comunison of the Moldovan Diaspora. The session will be attended by approximately 30 leaders representing the Moldovan communities abroad. “The diaspora associations, which represent more than one and a half million Moldovan emigrants, will gather together for the first time to declare the Comunison and adopt strategies of work with the Diaspora”, ACUM said in a statement. According to the agenda, on March 7 the Comunison will be inaugurated, which will adopt a Federal Constitution, a logo and ACUM's declaration. On March 8 an Orthodox divine service will be held and wreaths will be laid at Trajan's Column. According to ACUM's website www.diasporamoldovei.org, the association was founded in the United Kingdom in August 2006 as a nongovernmental organization aiming to promote Moldovan communities abroad. At present, ACUM operates three support centers of the diaspora in London, Brussels and Bucharest. Moldovan ethnics may join ACUM by filling in an on-line application form.
