Moldovan delegation to visit Lithuania
A delegation from Moldova, headed by Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev will pay an official visit to Lithuania, on March 5 to 6. According to the agenda, on the first day of the visit, the PM will meet President Valdas Adamkus, Speaker of Seimas (Parliament) Viktoras Muntianas, and his counterpart Gediminas Kirkilas.
Also on March 5, representatives of the two states will sign the intergovernmental partnership memorandum and will participate in a business forum. The delegation from Chisinau will also participate in a cultural programme organised by Moldova’s Embassy in Lithuania, including tasting of Moldovan wines.
On the same day, the PM will meet businessmen and representatives of the Moldovan Diaspora. He will also give interviews to the Lithuanian National Television and the newspaper "Lietuvos rytas". The Moldovan delegation will lay wreaths to the Memorial dedicated to persons who fell for Lithuania’s independence, at the Antakalnio cemetery.
Within the frameworks of the visit, the Prime Minister will visit Kaunas, where he will meet the mayor of the city and will visit the Joint Venture "Stumbras".
In 2006, Moldovan goods totalling USD 8.5 mln were exported to Lithuania. Imports from this country reached USD 8.3 mln. In 2005, this numbers constituted USD 6.3 mln and USD 8.1 mln respectively.
