A delegation of the Parliament of Moldova is taking part in the fifth ordinary session of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly that is taking place in Brussels on March 21-23, IPN reports.
According to the legislature’s press service, the delegation consists of MPs Marian Lupu, Dumitru Diacov, Artur Reshetnikov and the head of the delegation to the Euronest PA Oxana Domenti. In the meetings, MPs of the Eastern Partnership countries and of the European Parliament will discuss a series of resolutions on joint positions and concerns of the EU member states and the partner states from Eastern Europe concerning the foreign policy and external threats to their security. There will also be discussed the multiannual financial framework of the EU and their impact on the economic cooperation between the EaP countries.
The MPs will debate draft resolutions concerning the development of policies on nonconventional gas and the possible effects of the energy market in the EU and the Eastern Partnership states, and the cooperation between the EU and these states in the reciprocal recognition of the professional qualifications, work experience and university diplomas within the Bologna process.
One of the debates will center on the reaction of the EU member states and the EaP countries to threats, hybrid attacks and misinformation and on the actions that will be taken to fight and discourage these. The MPs will also exchange opinions on the report “Eastern Partnership after the review of the Neighborhood Policy and the role of the Euronest PA” that will be rendered by Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn.
According to the agenda, in the opening of the session welcoming messages will be delivered by the President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz, Co-Presidents of the Euronest PA Heidi Hautala and Victor Dolidze and other European officials and representatives of the Euronest PA observers.
A Women’s Forum will be held on the sidelines of the Euronest PA session on March 22. Moldova’s delegation will be represented by Deputy Speaker of Parliament Liliana Palihovici.
Founded in 2011, the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly is the parliamentary dimension of the Eastern Partnership and a dialogue platform between the MPs of the European Parliament and its Eastern partners on subjects related to the implementation of political, social and economic reforms.
