Moldovan delegation attends Universal Postal Union Congress
A Moldovan delegation, headed by the info-development minister Pavel Buceatchi, is attending the 24th congress of the Universal Postal Union, taking place in Geneva from Monday to Wednesday, Info-Prim Neo has learnt from the Information Development Ministry.
The congress started on July 23 and will last till August 12. It is joined by representatives of 191 countries, specialists in communications. The participants discuss aspects related to the improvement of the quality of post services, to the development of the world post infrastructure and to implementing modern informational technologies. The congress is to adopt a new World Mail Strategy. The congress is to elect the new managing bodies of the Union.
The congress of the Universal Postal Union is taking once in 4 years, as its group of strategic planning presents “The World Mail Strategy” for the period till the next congress.
Moldova joins the congress for the third time.
The mail communications represent one of the largest structures of the world. There are some 600,000 post offices employing over 5.5 million people. Some 439 billion mail dispatches are recorded annually.
