The prospects of strengthening cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the Czech Republic, including during the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU in the second half of 2022, were discussed in the Moldovan-Czech inter-ministerial political consultations held in Prague. The sides reaffirmed the commitment to extend the bilateral dialogue, also by organizing high-level visits, and the support for advancing Moldova’s relations with the EU, including within the Eastern Partnership Summit, IPN reports, quoting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration.
“The Republic of Moldova remains the main beneficiary of official development assistance of the Czech Republic, with different projects in such areas as sustainable management of natural resources, good governance, waste management, inclusive social development, agriculture and rural development,” said secretary of state at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Miroslav Stašek.
In the discussions, secretary of state at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova Veaceslav Dobîndă underlined the importance of realizing the potential of the economic and investment sector, including by organizing the next meeting of the Moldovan-Czech intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation in the near future. “I transmitted the authorities’ gratitude for the valuable development assistance offered to our country by the Czech Republic and for the humanitarian assistance provided to manage the COVID-19 pandemic,” stated Veaceslav Dobîndă.
The sides conferred on the conversion and mutual recognition of driver’s licenses of the two states, the possibility of reducing costs of roaming services, the developments in the region, including in the Transnistrian settlement process, and agreed to strengthen cooperation and mutual assistance within international and regional organizations.
