The Ministry of Culture of Moldova, in partnership with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan and with the support of the Embassy of Moldova in Azerbaijan, is organizing the second Moldovan Culture Days in Azerbaijan that will take place between April 29 and 30. The program includes a series of events aimed at promoting the national customs and traditions abroad.
Contacted by IPN, Moldova’s consul in Baku Gheorghe Botan said the ceremony to open the Moldovan Culture Days will be held at the National Philharmonic in Baku in the evening of April 29. It will include a concert by the folk music and dances ensemble “Fluieras”. There will be also opened an exhibition of photographs by Emeritus Master of Arts Mihai Potarniche. The exhibit will be opened by the ministers of culture of the two states.
Within the Moldovan Culture Days, the band “Trigon” managed by Anatol Stefanet will give a concert at the National Philharmonic in Baku on April 30. The event will be attended by representatives of the Azeri authorities and of the diplomatic corps in Azerbaijan, people of culture and ordinary people who want to know Moldovan people’s traditions.
Gheorghe Botan said there are not very many Moldovans in Azerbaijan, but approaches were made to register the diaspora there. The cultural events organized on the occasion of the Moldovan Culture Days are an opportunity for those who are far from the motherland to be closer to the national culture.
