Moldovan cultural-educational center opened in Russia

A Moldovan cultural-educational center called “Plai” (“Homeland”) was officially inaugurated in Russia, on the initiative of the national-cultural community of Moldovans and the public association “Rights Defender”, with support from the Embassy of Moldova in Russia, IPN reports.

According to the Bureau for Diaspora Relations, the event held at the Embassy was devoted to World Teachers’ Day and involved founders, teachers and students of the given center, employees of the Embassy and representatives of the Moldovan diaspora in Moscow.

Welcoming those attending, Ambassador Andrei Neguta congratulated the teachers from the hall, wishing everyone success and accomplishments in their work, thanking them simultaneously for their noble work, devotion to the profession and daily efforts made to raise and educate the young generations.

In the event, students of the center gave a performance of Moldovan music and poetry to show how well they learned the official language during only several months of studies.

At the end, all the children received by a primer “Albinuta” written by Grigore Vieru. The books intended for Moldovan children born outside the country were distributed to the Embassy by the Bureau for Diaspora Relations of the State Chancellery of Moldova.
