A married couple from the Republic of Moldova was attacked by a bear near an accommodation unit in the resort of Slănic Moldova. The gendarmes intervened after a call was made to 112, IPN reports, with reference to a press release of the Bacau County Gendarmerie Inspectorate.
According to the quoted source, the mountain gendarmery crew was directed to the area of the accommodation unit where the man and his wife were injured by a bear. The man and the woman, who were walking with other tourists, were attacked from behind by a bear. After a few moments, the animal moved away and gave up his aggressive intentions because of the noise made by the tourists.
The source also noted that the tourists were very scared and needed specialized care, being taken by a medical crew to the Onești Municipal Hospital.
The gendarmes recommend the citizens to call the single emergency number 112 when they see wild animals close to human settlements as they can represent a real danger.
