Starting September 15, an array of food goods imported to the R. Moldova will be certified in the customs bureaus at the same time with paying the customs duties procedure. According to the Standards and Metrology Service’s disposal on measures for protecting consumers, the list of goods subject to certification in the customs bureaus contains such products as: meat and sausages, dairy products, honey, vegetable oil, cereals, fish, chocolate, coffee, tea, canned vegetables and fruits, wine, grapes, beer, etc. These shall be certified by the bodies accredited and appointed by the National System of Ensuring Products’ Compliance. The products subject to certification shall have a validity term not shorter than 60 days, in batches only. From the moment the disposal enters into effect, the certification bodies shall not issue compliance certificates unless the products list complete, correct and accurate information right on their wrapping, excluding the practice of attaching stickers. The Conformity Evaluation, and State Surveillance and Consumers’ Protection divisions are entitled to control the execution of the aforementioned disposal. The disposal enters into force on November 15, 2006.
